Dr. Thad Frerking is a very important part of the South Valley Animal Hospital team. We invite you to learn a little bit more about him and his background so that you can become better acquainted with our doctors and staff.
Originally from the midwest, Dr. Frerking has lived in various parts of the country before ending up here in Las Vegas.

"I was born in Hannibal, Missouri," he said, "but I was raised in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. I finished high school in Fairfax, Virginia, and eventually went on to do two years at George Mason University. I graduated from Kansas St University for my undergrad, and went to the Kansas St. University College of Veterinary Medicine after that."
Like most veterinarians, Dr. Frerking knew from a young age that he wanted to devote his life to helping and healing animals.
"I've always loved animals, ever since I was young I've had a very deep appreciation for animals," he said. "I'm not sure there was one moment or experience that made me want to become a veterinarian, but it was something I've always wanted to do."
As someone that has been with South Valley Animal Hospital since the beginning, Dr. Frerking has a unique perspective of the clinic and how it has grown.
"We opened the hospital in May 2006, so I was here from the get-go," he said. "It's been going great for us, we have really good pet owners here in Southern Highlands. We've been lucky to be here and share in the care of the community's animals."
Working with animals is ultimately one of the most fulfilling parts of the job for Dr. Frerking, but it's the staff that makes South Valley Animal Hospital special.
"The staff here shares the same deep passion and care for animals that all animal lovers do," he said. "They're a great group of caring, friendly people that are happy to work in this environment. It's great to be surrounded by people who are compassionate and devoted to their jobs like the staff at South Valley is."
If there was one reason that pet owners should choose South Valley Animal Hospital, Dr. Frerking said it's the clinic's family atmosphere.
"We know that people have a choice in their pet care, so it's important to give people a reason to choose us," he said. "The biggest thing that South Valley offers in addition to the great quality of medical care is a true family atmosphere. We want to make you feel comfortable and at home when you come in, and we treat your pets as if they were our own."
